Original HD #2426-36 – New HD #37051-36 – Our SKU #2426-36 Type 1, Our SKU #2436-38 Type 2
Depending on what you’re looking for, there are two different replica clutch release levers, (2426-36, our SKU 2426-36), available for 1936 to 1940 Big Twin Harley Davidson motorcycles. Type 1 was used on 1936 and 1937 EL and U Big Twin models. Built from two pieces being brazed together, this part is only available in Cadmium finish.
The left end, or main portion of the Type 1 lever, has a 5/8” diameter and two mounting slots with the clutch rod being mounted to the outside slot.
The right end is a separate piece, with a 7/8” diameter, that is pressed and brazed to the left end, actually making it a two piece lever. It has a square hole that connects with the release lever stud , which extends through the kick starter cover to attach to the release finger.
Type 2 clutch release levers (2426-36, our SKU 2426-38) are made of the same two pieces. However, they were welded together instead of brazed. This allows the Type 2 to be parkerized.
The right end of the Type 2 clutch release lever is identical to Type 1. Yet the left end has only the one slot to mount the clutch rod. Type 2 was used on 1938 to 1940 EL and UL Big Twin models.
Clutch release levers are another hard to find part for your vintage Harley Davidson® restoration that we are proud to carry a near exact replica for. Some serious workmanship went into making these as close as you can get to the original part.
If you are price sensitive check out SKU 8400, it is an entry level clutch release lever that will give your wallet less of a hit and works with 1936 to 1964 Big Twin models. If you are needing only the clutch arm end take a look at SKU 2427-36.
